> The app turns your Gmail, Photos and Calendar into AI-illustrated stories without a prompt. India gets it next, though it can't mix languages the way many users do.

Google's Dreambeans is the AI app you never ask for anything. It reads what you've connected (Calendar, Gemini, Gmail, Photos, Search and YouTube) and generates illustrated stories about your life and interests on its own, without a prompt. Some stories now come animated with Google's Veo video model.

Now it has its first market outside the US. [TechCrunch's](https://techcrunch.com/2026/11/02/google-takes-dreambeans-to-india-in-bid-to-bring-ai-generated-personal-stories-to-the-masses/) Jagmeet Singh reports that Google launched it in India on Monday on Android and iOS, with English plus 13 Indian languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali. Google product manager Gozde Oznur said India was picked for strong demand and because so many people there use Gemini, Gmail and Google Photos together.

## Benchmarks vs. vibes

The US numbers explain the hurry for a new audience. Sensor Tower estimates shared with TechCrunch put Dreambeans at about 55,000 US downloads since its June debut, with roughly 63% of them in September, when Google opened it to every eligible adult. October then fell 84% month over month to about 5,500.

For comparison, Sensor Tower counts about 29,000 downloads in Dreambeans' first 30 days of full US availability. Meta's Muse got 7.4 million in its first 30 days, ChatGPT 2.8 million, Grok Bot 362,000 and Claude 155,000. Those are general-purpose assistants and Dreambeans is a niche story generator, so it isn't a fair fight, but it isn't a close one either.

## The Hinglish problem

Each story can be in only one language. Dreambeans can read your data in several languages, but Oznur said it can't yet write a story that mixes them. In a country where many people switch between Hindi and English mid-sentence, that's a real limit on the very personal tone the app is selling.

## Your inbox, as a storybook

The bigger question is the one any app built on reading your accounts faces. Gmail and Photos are full of things people may not want an AI narrating back to them. Google says you choose which services to connect and can disconnect any time, delete your Dreambeans data, and tell the app to avoid topics such as work. It's limited to personal Gmail accounts, and stories are visible only to the account owner. Oznur also acknowledged that it can surface people who have died, and said users can tell it to stop.

Next, Google says it wants Dreambeans to help users act on its suggestions instead of just showing them. An app that already reads your mail and then starts doing things for you is an agent, whatever Google calls it.

**[Scoreboard](/scoreboard) update:** Humans +1. Americans mostly shrugged at AI stories about their own lives, so Google is trying India.

Stay undead.
